Life is like a snooker game
I once noticed someone jogging a little way ahead of me while I was going about my daily business. It appeared that he was moving a little slowly.
Suddenly, an idea struck me. a desire to outpace him. To go to my house, I have to cross four or five streets. I started moving quickly in the hopes of catching up to him in time.
I was drawing nearer to him gradually. He had a mere few thousand feet ahead of him.
I picked up pace quickly. Those who see me today believe that I'm in training for an Olympic competition! I made the decision to chase after him, and finally, I caught up with him! An internal pride!
'I've passed you over there!'
I turned around. He had left. He had no idea that I was his rival!.
I didn't know I was lost until the excitement had faded! I ran with the only goal in mind—to beat him—and found myself six blocks from the street I was meant to return to. I now have to travel the entire distance to get home by going back the way I came.
We all experience similar things from time to time, don't we?
Isn't that what occurs when we compete with our friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers in an attempt to surpass them or show them who is superior?
We invest time and effort on demonstrating to others how accomplished and significant we are. We neglect our obligations. We lose sight of the routes we must go. We are not good at the work God has given us.
This is an unending circle of unhealthy competition. It is challenging to break free from this pattern once it has begun.
There are always those who come before us,
One thing to keep in mind. Without trying to outdo anyone else, we may be the best versions of ourselves!
Let us focus on the race of our lives and shun needless competition with others. Live well, each of us, and let others live!
Don't let us lose sight of our own lives by believing that life is after other people.
